When I feel unsettled, inevitably, my sense of well-being has been challenged. It could be a thought, something someone said, or something that happened.
Listening to a podcast recently made me understand exactly what was at play in those moments [1]. What I am sensing is actually a disconnect from myself.
Something has thrown me off balance. I no longer feel part of the things that usually fill my life. Instead, I feel a profound sense of isolation.
At those times I’m not in alignment with what I want to be doing and who I want to be. The feelings are, of course, indicative that something isn’t right and needs to change.
The solution? To recenter oneself. What is required is to restore equilibrium and one’s sense of peace and harmony. How one does this varies, of course.
It’s about reconnecting with the things one values. The things that give you joy and make you feel most you. The people, places, and activities that give your life meaning.
That is, realigning with your true nature. Not the one that has been imposed upon you by society, family, or anyone else. It’s about choosing yourself – first, foremost, always.
