A tale of love & loss plus other musings on life….

“Resistance is futile”

There are two forms of resistance that it is imperative we release – one stemming from positive experiences, the other from negative.

Both are versions of holding on or clinging. Resistance to reality. Resistance to what is. And both will make you suffer. That is pretty much guaranteed.

I came across a quote recently by Peace Pilgrim that sums this up quite nicely. “Anything you cannot relinquish … possesses you.”

There is no point to resisting. We can’t control an outcome. But as long as we resist, we remain stuck. Stuck on something that is not ours to determine.

Accepting the reality of what is, each and every moment, is the only answer. It’s a question of allowing experiences to just happen – without judgement.

It is about not being affected by what happens. Giving up all thoughts regarding the outcome. Being ok with whatever the outcome is, actually.

So, what are we resisting? That’s what we should be asking ourselves whenever a situation arises where we feel stuck. What is it that we’re holding on to?

And perhaps more importantly, why?
